Freestyle+ Projector Delivers Bright, Adaptable Performance

lucadelladora – Samsung has introduced the Freestyle+ portable projector ahead of its First Look showcase at CES 2026. The new model improves upon the 2022 Freestyle by nearly doubling brightness, delivering 430 ISO lumens compared to the 230 ISO lumens of the previous generation. ISO Lumens is an internationally standardized rating for projectors, providing a uniform measure for brightness claims across manufacturers.

The Freestyle+ retains the same compact and versatile design as its predecessors. It supports 160 degrees of rotation, allowing easy setup in homes, Airbnbs, and meeting rooms. Samsung has also added Q-Symphony compatibility, enabling users to pair the projector with Samsung soundbars for enhanced audio. While the built-in speaker’s output is limited due to size, the addition of soundbar support provides a practical solution for improved audio in larger spaces.

Samsung has incorporated Vision AI into the Freestyle+, allowing users to adjust settings and control playback using Bixby voice commands. During demonstrations, users can speak into the remote to operate Bixby, providing hands-free control over the projector. Other enhancements include automatic keystone correction, focus adjustments, and AI OptiScreen calibration. This system adapts projections to different wall surfaces and colors, improving visibility even on vivid or non-flat surfaces.

Features, Software, and Availability of the Freestyle+

The Freestyle+ features 3D Auto Keystone, which corrects distortion on uneven surfaces, such as corners, angled walls, or curtains. Demonstrations showed the image automatically flattening to fit unusual projection surfaces, allowing flexible placement throughout a home. Screen Fit automatically adjusts the projected image to match standard projector screen dimensions, while Wall Calibration analyzes wall color and pattern to optimize image tones and reduce visual interference. This ensures high-quality projections even on irregular or patterned walls.

The projector can output up to a 100-inch 1080p image at maximum settings. Despite its portability, the Freestyle+ requires a power source to operate, either via a wall outlet or a compatible power bank. This limits true cordless use, though the projector remains compact and easy to move between locations.

Samsung has not yet announced official pricing or a release date. The company plans to release the Freestyle+ in the first half of 2026. Previous Freestyle models retailed around $900, and early impressions indicate that Samsung significantly improved brightness, image calibration, and setup versatility in the updated version.
