Asus Launches 14-Inch Gaming Laptop With Strix Halo

lucadelladora – Asus has released its first 14-inch gaming laptop powered by AMD’s Strix Halo platform in the United States. The TUF Gaming A14 FA401EA marks the debut of the Ryzen AI Max+ 392 APU in North America.

The laptop has already been available in select global markets before this release. Its arrival in the US expands access to AMD’s latest integrated graphics platform.

The Ryzen AI Max+ 392 features 12 Zen 5 CPU cores. It is a slightly scaled-down version of the higher-end Ryzen AI Max+ 395.

AMD has reduced clock speeds and L2 cache compared to the flagship variant. The chip includes 12 MB of L2 cache instead of 16 MB.

However, the integrated GPU remains unchanged. The Radeon 8060S features 40 compute units and a boost clock of up to 2,900 MHz.

Benchmark results show a performance gap between the two chips. The Max+ 392 trails the Max+ 395 by around 25 percent in multi-core tests.

In synthetic benchmarks like Cinebench 2024, this difference is more noticeable. However, gaming-focused tests show a smaller performance gap.

The system can sustain around 100 watts of power under load in Turbo mode. In manual mode, it can reach a peak FPPT of 115 watts.

These figures highlight the laptop’s ability to maintain consistent performance. Efficient thermal management supports sustained workloads.

Radeon 8060S Delivers 80 FPS at 1600p in Modern AAA Games

Gaming performance remains a key highlight of the FA401EA. Tests show the laptop achieving around 80 frames per second in modern AAA titles.

These results were recorded at the native 1600p display resolution. The performance level is notable for an integrated graphics solution.

The Radeon 8060S continues to deliver competitive results in this configuration. It benefits from 16 GB of assigned VRAM for gaming workloads.

Thermal performance also appears stable during extended sessions. Temperatures reach approximately 80 degrees Celsius under heavy load.

The system maintains some thermal headroom even at high power levels. Asus’ default fan profile helps balance cooling and noise.

Compared to the previous FA401WV model, the new version offers a clear GPU upgrade. The improvements enhance gaming capability without requiring a discrete GPU.

Another advantage is its potential for USB-C charging. The laptop may maintain decent performance even when powered at 100 watts.

This feature could provide flexibility for users who need portable charging options. It also distinguishes the device from many Nvidia-based competitors.
