This new model builds on the Surface Laptop 7 for Business, introduced earlier this year, and now includes 5G connectivity. To enable this feature, Microsoft upgraded the hardware and integrated a new chipset. The Surface Laptop 5G uses the Intel Core Ultra 5 Series 2 processor and features Intel Arc Graphics along with an Intel AI Boost NPU.
The AI Boost NPU delivers up to 40 tera operations per second, enabling powerful on-device artificial intelligence capabilities. The laptop comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro and includes a dedicated Copilot key. Microsoft has marketed this device as a Copilot+ PC. Which means it offers native support for the company’s AI assistant features.
The Surface Laptop 5G features a 13.8-inch PixelSense Flow display with a resolution of 2,304 x 1,536 pixels. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision IQ, and reaches up to 600 nits of peak brightness. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 adds durability to the touchscreen panel, which offers a pixel density of 201ppi.
Available in Black and Platinum color options, the device is now up for pre-order and will officially go on sale starting August 26. Pricing begins at $1,799.99 for the 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD variant. A 32GB RAM version is priced at $2,099.99. Microsoft also offers a 15-inch variant with an integrated smart card reader and 5G support. Though pricing for this model is only available via Microsoft’s sales channels.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5G supports up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and features 256GB of PCIe Gen4 SSD storage. Designed with professionals in mind, the device includes enterprise-grade security options such as TPM 2.0, BitLocker, Microsoft Pluton, and Windows Hello for biometric authentication. The smart card reader adds another layer of secure access, making it suitable for sensitive business environments.
For video conferencing, Microsoft includes a 1080p Full HD camera supported by Windows Studio effects. The laptop also features dual studio microphones and OmniSonic speakers with Dolby Atmos audio. Delivering a premium media and communication experience. Connectivity is robust, with support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and both nano SIM and e-SIM 5G capabilities. The laptop includes two USB 4.0 Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Surface Connect port for charging and docking.
