lucadelladora – Philips Hue has officially launched four new smart strip lights in several European countries. The new products belong to the entry-level Essential range and are designed to offer a more affordable option within the Philips Hue lighting ecosystem. The release includes two standard strip lights and two flexible versions with different installation capabilities.
The newly released models include the Philips Hue Essential Strip light in 5 meter and 10 meter versions. Philips has also introduced the Philips Hue Essential Flex Strip light in the same lengths. These products expand the brand’s portfolio of smart lighting accessories aimed at home decoration and ambient lighting.
One of the new strip lights was previously spotted at European retailers earlier in February 2026. The same product had already appeared in the company’s online store in the United States. The broader European rollout now confirms the official availability of the new Essential range across multiple markets.
As entry-level products, the Essential strip lights offer a slightly simplified feature set compared with higher-end Philips Hue models. One notable limitation involves brightness control. The Essential lights can dim down to 2 percent brightness, while more advanced Hue strip lights can dim as low as 0.2 percent.
The color blending technology used in the Essential series is also less advanced than that found in premium Hue products. Despite this limitation, the lights still provide customizable colors and integration with the wider Philips Hue smart home ecosystem. Users can control lighting scenes and adjust brightness through compatible apps and smart home platforms.
These new models aim to provide a lower-cost alternative for users who want to enter the Hue ecosystem without purchasing the brand’s premium lighting products. By offering simpler functionality at reduced prices, Philips Hue hopes to reach a broader group of smart lighting users.
Essential Flex Model Adds Bendable Design for More Installation Options
In contrast, the Essential Flex Strip lights feature a flexible backing that allows them to bend into different shapes. This design makes them suitable for decorative installations on curved surfaces or irregular spaces. Users can place them around corners or along rounded wall edges for more creative lighting effects.
The two product types also differ in their physical dimensions. The standard Essential strip measures approximately 2.0 millimeters in height and about 0.386 millimeters in width. The Essential Flex version measures around 13.0 millimeters tall and approximately 0.256 millimeters wide. Another difference relates to customization and installation adjustments.
The flexible version does not support cutting to adjust the length. Instead, it is designed primarily for shaping and bending rather than resizing. This design choice emphasizes versatility in placement rather than modular customization.

Philips Hue has also confirmed the pricing for the new lighting products in Europe. The Philips Hue Essential Strip Light is available in two lengths. The 5 meter version costs €59.99, while the 10 meter version is priced at €99.99.
The flexible versions carry slightly higher prices due to their bendable design. The Philips Hue Essential Flex Strip light in the 5 meter size costs €99.99. The larger 10 meter version is priced at €169.99.
