NVIDIA Launches DLSS 4.5 With Frame Boost Tech

lucadelladora – NVIDIA has released new DLSS 4.5 features aimed at improving gaming performance on its RTX 50 series graphics cards. The update builds on the earlier Super Resolution release and focuses on increasing frame rates using advanced AI-driven rendering techniques. The company stated that these improvements are designed to deliver smoother gameplay, particularly for high-refresh-rate displays.

The latest update introduces two key features: DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and DLSS 4.5 Multi Frame Generation 6X. These technologies aim to enhance performance in demanding gaming scenarios, including path-traced environments. NVIDIA said the features help unlock the potential of modern displays, such as 4K 240Hz OLED monitors and 1080p or 1440p screens running at 360Hz or higher.

Dynamic Multi Frame Generation operates as an adaptive system that adjusts frame generation in real time. NVIDIA described it as similar to an automatic transmission for graphics performance. Instead of applying a fixed multiplier, the system dynamically balances refresh rate, image quality, and responsiveness. This approach helps maintain optimal performance without exceeding a monitor’s native refresh rate.

For example, the feature prevents unnecessary frame generation beyond the display limit. A game will not run at 240 frames per second on a 120Hz monitor. This ensures efficient use of GPU resources while maintaining visual consistency. The system continuously adjusts output based on workload and display capabilities.

The second feature, Multi Frame Generation 6X, focuses on maximizing performance gains. Built on NVIDIA’s second-generation transformer model, it increases the frame generation multiplier up to six times. This allows the GPU to generate up to five additional frames for every natively rendered frame. According to NVIDIA, this can boost 4K frame rates by up to 35 percent with minimal impact on responsiveness.

Dynamic Frame Generation and 6X Scaling Target High Refresh Gaming

DLSS 4.5 does not increase the native rendering speed of games. Instead, it uses artificial intelligence to create interpolated frames between rendered ones. These generated frames are based on predictions of how the scene should appear. This method reduces GPU workload while delivering smoother motion.

However, AI-generated frames can sometimes introduce visual artifacts. Issues may occur in scenes with fine details such as rain, hair, or thin objects like wires. While these artifacts are generally minimal, they remain a known limitation of frame interpolation technology.

Despite these challenges, DLSS 4.5 aims to provide a balance between performance and visual quality. The new features allow gamers to achieve higher frame rates without significantly increasing hardware strain. This makes the technology particularly useful for demanding graphical settings and high-resolution gameplay.

The DLSS 4.5 update is now available for NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPUs. Several upcoming and existing titles are expected to support the new Multi Frame Generation features. These include 007 First Light, scheduled for release on May 27, Directive 8020, arriving on May 12, as well as CONTROL Resonant and Tides of Annihilation.

NVIDIA continues to expand its AI-based rendering ecosystem as part of its long-term graphics strategy. The introduction of DLSS 4.5 highlights the company’s focus on improving performance through software innovation. As more games adopt these features, the technology could play a key role in shaping future gaming experiences.
