RX 9060 Outperforms RTX 5050, Matches RTX 5060 in Gaming

lucadelladora – AMD recently launched the Radeon RX 9060 GPU, targeting the mid-range gaming market. The card was tested against Nvidia’s RTX 5060, RTX 5050. And AMD’s own RX 9060 XT in several gaming and benchmark tests. The RX 9060 showed impressive results. Outperforming the RTX 5050 by around 20% while matching the RTX 5060 in most gaming scenarios.

Tests were conducted by Technosaurus a South Korean outlet. Using two CPUs: the budget Ryzen 5 7500F and the high-end Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Popular games like God of War (2018), Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 were tested at 1080p on highest quality settings. In these games the RX 9060 delivered nearly identical performance to the RTX 5060, which was only 2% faster on average.

Although the RX 9060 falls short of the RX 9060 XT by roughly 6%. It remains a competitive option considering its pricing and availability. The RX 9060 XT, equipped with 16 GB VRAM, is noticeably faster but also costlier. The RX 9060 is a cut-down version of the XT model, designed primarily for system integrators and pre-built gaming PCs.

The RTX 5050, priced around $249, has received poor reviews for its underwhelming performance in 2025. Compared to the RTX 5050, the RX 9060 clearly outperforms it in both gaming and benchmarks. Making it a better choice if priced competitively.

Benchmark Results and Market Implications for RX 9060

In 3DMark benchmarks, the RX 9060 scored 14,132 points in Time Spy and 35,511 in Fire Strike. These results mark a significant lead over the RTX 5050. With the RX 9060 being 38% faster in Time Spy and 25% faster in Fire Strike. However, the RTX 5060 still holds a slight advantage. Outperforming the RX 9060 by 4% and 3% in the same tests.

Despite its strong performance, the RX 9060 is expected to have limited availability and will likely only be sold with pre-built gaming PCs. This limited launch could restrict consumer choice, especially compared to Nvidia’s wider retail presence.

The RX 9060’s 8 GB VRAM is another factor to consider. In 2025, 8 GB is becoming less ideal for modern gaming, where 16 GB cards like the RX 9060 XT or RTX 5060 offer more future-proofing. Gamers with higher budgets should still aim for the 16 GB variants for better longevity.

In summary, the RX 9060 offers a great value alternative to the RTX 5050 and competes closely with the RTX 5060. If AMD prices it aggressively and partners with system builders, it could attract gamers looking for affordable 1080p performance. However, the future lies in GPUs with more VRAM and stronger capabilities, so buyers should carefully weigh their options before choosing the RX 9060.
